In yet another shocking case of a fake identity trap, Surat police arrested a man who posed as a Hinud to trap women in the name of modelling jobs. Later, he used to blackmail them with their nude pictures. On October 18, Adajan Police registered a case against him.

According to the reports, the accused Mohammad Rehan, a resident of Surat, would send messages such as “Interested in work?” to women aspiring to be models via WhatsApp. He offered them sums ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh in exchange for their nude videos and photos for supposed modelling opportunities.

Mohammad Rehan, had fabricated numerous social media profiles, masquerading as a Hindu, with the intent of ensnaring Hindu girls, particularly those from economically vulnerable backgrounds. He would then post explicit images of his victims on illicit websites, profiting from these activities.

One of the women who was contacted by the accused became suspicious of Mohammad Rehan’s activities and quickly discovered the truth. She promptly informed her family, who then rescued her.

Ravi Gupta, the Rander Division coordinator of Bajrangdal, stated in an interview with OpIndia, “We were alerted to this entire conspiracy four weeks ago. Frustrated by the blackmailing of accused Mohammad Rehan, one of the victims confided in her family, who subsequently reached out to us for assistance. Our team set up a trap after learning about the incident. We contacted accused Mohammad Rehan and caught him red handed.”

Gupta proceeded to explain how they apprehended the perpetrator. According to him, during the questioning by the Hindu activists, they examined Rehan’s phone and discovered eight distinct social media profiles, all with Hindu names. They also uncovered Rehan’s conversations with the victims, which included messages pressuring them to send explicit images. Eventually, the Hindu activists handed the accused over to the police.

“We apprehended the perpetrator as soon as he arrived at the location. We initiated a conversation with him and began questioning him. His phone contained eight separate social media profiles, all created using Hindu names. Many of these accounts were used to message Hindu girls. Additionally, we questioned him about some explicit photos of girls found on his phone. However, he became agitated, and to prevent any escalation, we contacted the police and turned the accused over to them,” said Gupta.

The accused would take explicit photos of Hindu girls in a manner that concealed their faces. He would then upload these images to websites prohibited in India, as well as those operating from the US and Canada.

Mohammad Rehan would subsequently use these images to blackmail and threaten the Hindu girls, aiming to tarnish their reputations after posting their explicit pictures on such illicit websites.

Meanwhile, the police are conducting an interrogation and will be sending the confiscated mobile phone for forensic analysis.
