“Congress is B-team and AIMIM C-team of BRS”: Telangana BJP chief hits back at Rahul Gandhi over covert alliance claim

Coming down heavily on Rahul Gandhi over his claim of a “secret understanding” between the BRS, AIMIM and the BJP, Union Minister and the BJP’s Telangana President, G Kishan Reddy, on October 19, said the Congress was the “B-team” of the ruling party while the outfit led by Asaduddin Owaisi was its “C-team”.

Addressing a public meeting in Telangana on October 19, Rahul Gandhi said the BRS had entered into a covert alliance with the BJP and AIMIM to keep the Congress out of power in the State.

Speaking to ANI on October 19, the BJP’s State chief hit back at the Congress MP, saying, “He (Rahul Gandhi) should clearly understand who is the B team of whom. The BRS is the B team of the Congress while the Majlis party (AIMIM) is the C team of both. Rahul Gandhi seems to have a very feeble memory and there’s not much we can do about it. All we can do is to suggest that he receives proper treatment.”

He also dared the Congress MP to have a discussion with him on “who is the B team of whom” in Telangana.

“If Rahul Gandhi wants to a debate on who is the B team of whom, I am ready and willing. Let him decide the time and place. I don’t mind if it happens at the Delhi Press Club or Hyderabad Press Club. The Congress and the BRS are the B-teams of each other. And, the AIMIM is their C-team,” Kishan Reddy said.

“Reading from a piece of paper is not that dofficult. Rahul Gandhi should understand politics, history and the reality on the ground. Don’t just read what is written on a piece of paper. People of Telangana are smart, they are not falling for your words,” the Union minister said.

Rahul claimed that the BJP and the ruling BRS were working together to halt the Congress march in Telangana, which will go to polls on November 30.

“In Telangana, the fight is between the Congress and the BRS. We have sidelined the BJP but the BJP wants the BRS to win in Telangana. They are working together. The BRS did what the BJP wanted in Parliament,” Rahul said, invoking the BRS’ support to the Centre farmers’ Bill and GST.

Telangana is set to witness an intriguing multi-polar contest between the BRS, Congress and the BJP.

In the previous Assembly elections in 2018, the BRS won 88 of the 119 seats, hogging 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress finished a distant second with 19 seats and a vote share of 28.7 per cent.
