It is to be noted that the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state has been continuously accusing the Mahagathbandhan government for failing to contain the sprut in crimes such as murder, loot, crime against women and communal flare-ups. The law and order situation in the state has also led to a tug of war between the ruling alliance and the BJP lately, where the latter had alleged the ruling government for appeasement politics.
