The Directorate of Vigilance (DoV) wrote a letter to the Delhi Assembly speaker, Ram Niwas Goel, regarding the recovery of damages from MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi in lieu of illegal allotment and misuse of Government accommodation.

In its letter, the DoV said, “The MLAs are not entitled for residential accommodation and Akhilesh Pati Tripathi was found residing with family in the guise of office accommodation. Accordingly, Quarter– H-3, Type-5 was vacated on November 22, 2019, as per the vacation report submitted to the PWD Department. The vacation slip was signed by Vishal Panday on behalf of Akhilesh Pati Tripathi.”

DoV also stated in its letter that the Model Town MLA is liable to pay damage charges, 65 times the normal Licence Fee as per Government Residence (General Rule) 1997.

“Secretary, Delhi Legislative Assembly is requested to deduct the damages from the salary of Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, MLA and credit it to the Public Works Department along with penal interest from November 2, 2019, to till date,” DoV said in its letter.

It also said that if the damages are not paid to the department (DoV), it shall recommend to the revenue department not to issue any ‘No dues certificate’ to Akhilesh Pati Tripathi.
