Once again violence has eruptted in Manipur as a mob of angry people marched towards the residence of Chief Minister Biren Singh. However, the situation was brought under control by the police as they used smoke bombs to disperse the angry mob. However, there were n reports on injuries and casualties.

Security at the residence of CM N Biren Singh increased after the attack, police sources said.Similarly an angry mob stormed into Naoriya Pakhanglakpa MLA S Kebi Devi’s house also. Earlier an irate mob burnt down a BJP mandal office in Thoubal district on September 27. Thoubal is the home district of former Congress CM Ibobi Singh.

Earlier, protestors targeted the residence of the BJP Manipur Pradesh president, Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi. The police intervened, leading to a confrontation between the mob and the security forces. State BJP President A Sarda was evacuated to safety, but the irate mob set on fire a police vehicle during the altercation. It should be mentioned that the situation escalated in Manipur on September 26 after the photos of two Meitei students who were allegedly kidnapped and killed by Kuki militants in Churachand pur district went viral.

The viral photos show the two students sitting at the grassy compound. Behind the student, armed militants in camoflex were visible. It looks to be a makeshift jungle camp of an armed group. The 17-year-old minor girl is in a white t-shirt while the man, holding a backpack and in a checked shirt, looks on to the camera. In another photo, their bodies are seen slumped on the ground near a big rock and it looks like the same place.

The Meitei students were abducted by armed militants on July 6 from Bishnupur district and taken to Churachandpur. Bishnupur and Churachandpur are the worst affected districts in the violence. It was believed that the minor girl student and the 20 year old boy were killed on the same day.
