Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on August 25, laid the foundation stone of the permanent campus of the Central Tribal University at the Chinamedapalli village of Dattirajeru Mandal, Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was also present at the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the central Tribal University will improve the educational standards in the Northern region of Andhra Pradesh.

He also stated that the foundation stone laying of the permanent campus of Kendriya Janajatiya Vishvavidyalay in Andhra Pradesh has laid the foundation of a 21st-century temple of learning. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision for tribal empowerment.

He emphasised how the establishment of the university will also benefit tribal students from the neighbouring States of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

“The university will be a skills, sports, applied education, and research university and will act as a catalyst for the development of the tribal population,” he stated.

The Tribal University is all set to offer Degrees, short-term courses in skill development, vocational and job-oriented courses and promote the individual, cultural environmental development of the tribal population.

Union Minister further congratulated the team of scientists on the successful landing of ISRO’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan 3.

“Chandrayaan-3 is the biggest achievement and I am very proud that we have achieved it. Our scientists have glorified our name in the world,” he said.

India took a giant leap on August 23 evening as the Chandrayaan 3 lander module successfully landed on the moon’s South Pole, making it the first country to have achieved the historic feat and bringing to an end the disappointment over the crash landing of the Chandrayaan 2, four years ago.

India became the fourth country – after the US, China, and Russia – to have successfully landed on the moon’s surface. The spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota on July 14.
