Union Cabinet approves ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ for augmenting city bus operations, seven railway projects worth Rs 20,000 crore

Union Cabinet has given approval for several development related projects. The move will give boost not only to the rail and transport infrastructure but also to the digital infrastructure.

The union cabinet on Wednesday approved ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ for augmenting city bus operation under which 10,000 e-buses will be deployed across cities in the country. Briefing reporters after a meeting of the union cabinet, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said  the decision will improve public transport in cities and is also in line with India’s objectives concerning climate change. “PM e-Bus Seva has been given approval. Rs 57,613 crores will be spent on this. Around 10,000 new electric buses will be provided across the country,” he said.

The scheme will cover cities of 3 lakh and above population and priority will be given to cities not having organised bus services.

Cabinet approves seven railway projects worth Rs 20,000 crore.

·  This is part of the preparations to redevelop 508 railway stations across India at a cost of Rs 4,195 crore.

·  The plan is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

·  16 stations in Haryana will also be modernised at a cost of Rs 608 crore.

Cabinet approves PM Vishwakarma scheme
• Cabinet approves financial outlay of Rs 13000 cr for 5 years
• Vishwakarma Yojana will benefit 30 lakh artisan families.
• 18 traditional trades to be covered in the first instance under PM Vishwakarma
• With this, loans up to Rs 1 lakh will be given to artisans at 5 percent.
• Benefit of interest subvention will be provided to beneficiaries.
• Vishwakarma Yojana will benefit 30 lakh artisan families.

• Programme for re-skilling of IT professionals announced.
• 540 services to be added under UMANG
• 9 Supercomputer to be added to National Computing Mission

Cabinet approves 13606 cr project for multi tracking of Son Nagar- Andal in West Bengal

Cabinet approves quadrupling of Samakhiali- Ghandhidham rail route
• This project is based in Gujarat
• Quadrupling may enable introduction of new passenger trains

The approval for various development projects comes at a time when the BJP is gearing up for assemble elections in five states and also ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls which are scheduled to take place next year in 2024.
