Mahakal Ladoo Prasad: New record created with sale of 1804 quintals of ladoo worth over Rs 8.51 crore

During the shravan month, in the last 40 days more than one crore devotees visited the Mahakal Ujjain temple and a new record was created due to manifold sale of ‘ladoos’ thereby giving a boost to the local economy.

The holy month of Shravan which is dedicated to Bhagwan Shiva is revered by the Hindus as they pray to please the god and get their wishes fulfilled. It is on this occasion that the Hindu devotees visit the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain and offer prayers along with prasad which is mostly ladoo.

Record Number of devotees visit Mahakal Temple

Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee Administrator and Additional Collector Sandeep Kumar Soni has reportedly said that from July 1 to August 9, 2023 more than one crore devotees have visited the Mahakal temple.

Sale of Mahakal Ladoo Prasad creates new record

The devotees who came to worship Bhagwan Shiva at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain bought ladoos as prasad from the counters that were set up inside and outside the temple. Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee Administrator and Additional Collector Sandeep Kumar Soni stated that all possible steps were taken to ensure that the devotees could easily get the Mahakal Ladoo. He also informed that everyday 45 quintals of ladoo was being made as prasad

Devotees throng Mahakaleshwar temple during Shravan month

A large number of devotees thronged Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district to offer prayers on the occasion of the ‘Shravan Somvar’ The devotees queue up in the early morning to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva at the temple and they also participated in a special ‘Bhasma Aarti’ of Baba Mahakal performed here on the occasion.

‘Bhasma aarti’ (offering with ashes) is a famous ritual here. It is performed during the ‘Brahma Muhurta’ around 3:30 and 5:30 in the morning.

According to the priest of the temple Gaurav Sharma, before the Bhasma Aarti, the holy bath of Baba Mahakal with water and Panchamrit Mahabhishek were performed in which the Lord was anointed with milk, curd, ghee, honey, and fruit juices. After that Baba Mahakal was decorated with bhang, sandalwood, and then dressed in clothes. Thereafter, Bhasma Aarti was performed amid the beating of drums and blowing of conch shells.
