Controversial youtuber Manish Kashyap has been turning heads again ever since he made a comeback in Bihar after the police produced him in a Bettiah court on Monday August 07. Earlier the youtuber was brought up to Bettiah by the police from Tamil Nadu to appear before two separate courts for hearing. He received a rousing welcome at the railway station where hundreds of supporters gathered to welcome him.

Kashyap was first produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in connection with the case pertains to obstructing a bank manager of Paras Pakadi branch of State Bank of India, from discharging his official duty following which he was also produced in a case pertaining to manhandling a BJP MLA Uma Shankar Tiwari in the 2020 state assembly elections.

Speaking to the media Kashyap’s lawyer Abdul Akhtar said that the CJM, Bettiah has sent him (Kashyap) to the Judicial custody, at the same time he has been also sent on remand in another case by justice Manjoor Alam. “He has been sent in a judicial remand which is usually for the Bettiah jail however it depends upon the local administration that whether he would be kept in Bettiah jail or somewhere else, but the administration is duty bound to produce him before the court in person if asked so by the court”,added his lawyer.

It’s been reported that after producing him in the court the Tamil Nadu police then took him to Patna Beur jail where he was allowed to lodge for a night after initially refusing a stay by the authorities reportedly. Kashyap will be produced before a Patna court in a separate case lodged against him on August 8, 2023.

Meanwhile the youtuber also gets a chance to meet his mother, however hours before the meeting Kashyap’s mother alleged that the state government has failed measurably and she was denied a permission to meet her son. Earlier her mother had also met the Bihar governor and made an appeal to bring her son to Bihar and remove NSA.

Kashyap Lodged in Tamil Nadu under NSA

Kashyap had surrendered before the police in the Parsa Pakdi case in which the court had ordered the police to attach his house on March 18. Subsequently Kashyap was also charged with spreading fake news related to alleged violence on people of Bihar in Tamil Nadu, following which he was apprehended by the Tamil Nadu police and was taken to Madurai.

He has been lodged in the Madurai jail since then and the Tamil Nadu state government has also invoked the National Security Act (NSA) on the youtuber for purportedly spreading fake videos of violence against Biharis in Tamil Nadu. Earlier the youtuber had also moved to the supreme court for granting him relief by clubbing all 19 FIR against him while also challenging the invocation of NSA against him, however the Apex court had dismissed his plea and observed that ‘one cannot create disquiet in the state while circulating anything.’ However the Apex court granted the liberty to challenge the invocation of the NSA at an appropriate Judicial forum preferably in the high court.

Courts grants relief

Though amid the mystery about him to be taken back to Tamil Nadu or not, the Patna High Court on Tuesday ruled that the youtuber would stay in Beur jail in Patna and would appear before the Tamil Nadu police via video conferencing if need arises. Citing the court order Kashyap’s lawyer Shivanand Bharti said that the court ordered that he be kept at Beur Jail.

Earlier, Manish Kashyap alias Tripurari Tiwari was produced before the Patna High Court in connection with the FIR filed by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police. The Court granted him a stay in the state as he had already secured bail in all the cases lodged against him in Tamil Nadu.

Controversial you tuber Kashyap from North Bihar has a significant following in Bihar for his unique style of reporting on issues pertaining to administration and development works. He is said to be a popular figure among a section of youths who despite of the alleged charges, rallied behind him and raised slogans in his support. Earlier a shutdown call was also given in support of Kashyap with a demand to lodge him in a prison in Bihar instead of Tamil Nadu.
