Kamadhenu Gaushala was set up in September 2018 by Shri Srinivas from his personal funds in Telangana’s Mokila. Since its inception more than 700 cows have been rescued. And in just two years, from September 5, 2021 to June 30, 2023, 231 cows have been rescued. The details of the cows that have been rescued are mentioned on the website of Kamdhenu Gaushala.

The Kamdhenu Gaushala and Foundation is a registered organisation (Trust Registration: 5/BK-IV/2021 of Telangana State) and Srinivas out of sheer devotion for the cause. 2.5 acres of land was leased from Konda Mahender Reddy s/o Konda Bucchi Reddy for a period of 10 years and 1 acre from Parimala Reddy, w/o sridhar Reddy for five years. The condition that was laid down was that Srinivas would develop the land, build the infrastructure and once the lease period comes to an end, he would leave behind the infrastructure as compensation for using the land.

Lease Document of Kamdhenu Gaushala

Srinivas developed the infrastructure of the Kamadhenu Gaushala by spending Rs 2.5 crore. He ensured that the land was levelled, borewells and water pumps were set up, cowshed were built, residence was made for those taking care of the rescued cows and fencing was also done.

Advent of Covid 19 resulted in financial crunch for Srinivas, turned the Gaushala into registered trust

Covid 19 had caused havoc around the world in 2020. A large section of the population lost their jobs and means to earn their livelihood. Since Srinivas was running the Gaushala by using his personal funds, he too faced a financial crunch at the time of Covid 19. For almost a year that is from June 2020 to June 2021, Srinavas used his wealth to run the Gaushala and take care of the cows and the staff. However, owing to the financial crisis, Srinivas and his family decided to convert the Gaushala into a registered trust. The trustees comprises two elderly ladies.

Troubles mount for gaushala as Konda Buchi begins harassment

It was during this time that Konda Buchi Reddy who is the father of the landlord made attempts to usurp the Gaushala as on multiple occasions, goons of Buchi Reddy trespassed into the Gaushala, and harassed the workers by threatening and physically harming them. They had also caused denough destruction as they damaged the infrastructure of the gaushala.

In order to hide the crime committed by them, they stole the hard disk of the CCTV camera. The local administration did not come to the rescue and apparently they were hand in glove with the miscreants since the First Information Report (FIR) could be filed only on the direction of Telangana High Court.

High Court Order

Two Civil suits were also filed for the protection of tenancy rights and they are pending in Chevella court for consideration to grant injunction.

Condition of cows at Kamdhenu Gaushala improved despite harassment by the land mafia

People at large came to the forefront to help in the rehabilitation of the cows as donations poured in. This helped the Gaushala to carry out the rescue operations. Some of the rehabilitated and rescued cows were able to become mothers again, though the milk yielded by them was not adequate, it was sufficient for the calves. The staff at the Kamdhenu Gaushala did not sell any milk and each drop of milk was given to the calves.

Animal Husbandry Department writes malicious one sided report against Kamdhenu Gaushala

The local authorities did not cooperate with the people at Kamdhenu Gaushala and on January 12, 2023 some officials from the Animal Husbandry Department came for inspection. They submitted a one sided report to the collector and it contained false information, though Kamdhenu Gaushala had submitted all the documents and bills.

All the proofs were mailed to the collector also and the owners of the Kamdhenu Gaushala trust requested the local administration if they wanted any other documents apart from those that were already furnished.

Sequence of Events that led to the brutal assault of the caretaker of Kamdhenu Gaushala along with the staff

June 17, 2023 – On this day Konda Buchi Reddy trespassed into Gowshala along with his accomplice with an aim to poison the cows. They fled from the scene once the police were called.

July 3, 2023 – There were rumours that were doing the rounds that Buchi Reddy was planning to usurp the Gaushala with aid from the collector. A mail was sent by Kamdhenu Gaushala to the collector in which he was asked not to take any cohesive action without giving them a fair hearing. He was also asked to take note of all the evidence that was submitted to him and he was also informed that Gaushala had not received any notice.

Mail sent to the Collector seeking Justice

July 5, 2023 – In a planned way, Konda Buchi Reddy along with MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy did recce of the Gaushala along with other goons. The Gaushala people in their complaint had mentioned that they were providing the CCTV screenshots of the cars of the goons and trespassers along with the RTO proof.

A day before this Unlawful Usurping of Gowshala with collusion with Collector, Recce was conducted by @trsgmr along with his goons & Konda Buchi Reddy.

July 6, 2023 – After having done the recce, early in the morning at 6 am, Reddy along with his goons attacked the Gaushala. They disconnected the CCTV, mobile phones were destroyed so that no information could go out, and Panditji Seshkant Mishra who is a Sanskrit Scholar was beaten black and blue by the goons.

Kavitha, who is a family member in a telephonic conversation with Organiser informed that the complete infrastructure of the Gaushala including the drinking water troughs and shades for the cows were demolished.

The police did little to help the victims as they formed a 500m perimeter around the Gaushala and no one was allowed to go near the Kamdhenu Gaushala. The Gaushala is still under siege and according to the locals the cows have been taken away

Complaint filed on July 14, 2023

The Kamadhenu Foundation is fighting a battle despite having all the legal documents. The land mafia did not pay any heed to the Telangana High Court’s directive and is going all out to usurp the land.
