“This India is different from what it was in 2013. In a short span of 10 years, India has gained positions in the world order with significant positive consequences for the macro and market outlook”.
— India Equity Strategy and Economics: How India Has Transformed in Less than a Decade, Morgan Stanley report

“This India is different from what it was in 2013.” This statement in the Morgan Stanley report highlighting the ten significant changes, primarily based on policy choices and their implications for its economy and market, indicates the picture of transforming Bharat.

Recently, World Economic Forum (WEF) President Borge Brende also remarked that Bharat’s economy is experiencing the “famous snowball effect” that will generate additional investments and jobs. “The Indian economy continues to show strong resilience to external shocks,” the World Bank in its latest India Development Update said. Most of these United States-dominated agencies are not known for being kind towards Bharat or the present dispensation. Still, they all recognise that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharat has transformed, gaining a position in the world order and becoming a key driver for Asia and global growth. The nine years of the Modi Government should be seen in this light. What are the key reasons behind this transformation?

The construction and inauguration of the new Parliament is a point of study here. The new Parliament has been discussed since 2010 due to the maintenance and inadequate seats-related issues, but nothing could move forward. Modi Government did not just initiate the process but ensured the state-of-the-art structure in a record twenty-eight months. The speed and scale of this grand structure would astonish anyone visiting the Parliament. In 2014, most of the people in Bharat had lost faith in the delivery of democracy.

Prime Minister Modi and his Government responded positively to those aspirations with ambitious targets and delivered on many fronts, from culture, health, and infrastructure to defence and national security. The grandeur and aesthetics of this new temple of democracy connect us to the ancient ideas and principles of statecraft based on Dharmic values.

The themes and the interior perfectly present the glory of the Mother of Democracy, which is also the largest democracy in the world. While doing so, modern facilities like digitisation and better connectivity with the secretariat are addressed. Bringing the art, artefacts and raw material from all parts of Bharat to realise the dream of Ek Bharat- Shreshta Bharat (One Bharat – Glorious Bharat) is also ensured in this meticulous execution. Right from the Statue of Unity, the grandness, connection with the glorious history and culture, contribution of all regions and adaptation of modern amenities are essential ingredients of Modi’s scheme of things.

Besides delivery and beautiful amalgamation of antiquity and modern, reconnecting masses with the civilisational ethos is another essential feature of the last nine years. From Ganga aarti to the reconstruction of Ayodhya temple, Kashi Vishwanath corridor, Mahakal Dham or restoration of Sengol – the auspicious and judicious symbol of Dharma Danda – in Parliament, the Modi Government has always tried to strengthen the civilisational roots with pride.

The sense of inferiority and colonial prism has been ingrained in our psyche and intellectual milieu. Modi Government has shaken them to the core and unleashed the inherent potential of the Bharatiya populous for all-over development. Celebrating the 75 years of Independence was also marked with the same approach. The world is naturally showing respect to this awakened civilisational Bharat.

Of course, there would be political positioning by the opposition, heartburns for vested interests and antagonism by anti-Bharat forces. No one can correct the wrongs of centuries in nine years. Further reforms and delivery are expected in rural development, agricultural and environmental fronts, but based on facts, it is tough to question the intent behind the actions. Bharat has indeed witnessed historical transformations. May the new Parliament provide the right platform to realise the goal of Bharat being the Vishwa Guru. We must carry forward the spirit of taking the right inspiration to fulfil national aspirations.
