Maharashtra: BJP worker attacked with swords by cow smugglers in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar

On May 25, Gaurakshaks and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers followed and stopped a truck alleging it was smuggling cows for slaughtering. Following this, armed goons attacked the Gaurakshaks and the BJP party workers in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar near Cambridge Chowk. The workers sustained severe injuries.

As per the information received, BJP worker Kunal Marathe has got some information about illegal transportation of beef, following which he, along with his few associates, was looking for the vehicle in which cows are being transported when a truck quickly passed him, after chasing the truck they came to know that cows for slaughtering are being transported into it following which Marathe called on the police helpline and informed about it.

However, just after he made the call to the police, around 20 men armed with swords, knives and wooden sticks barged at the spot and brutally assaulted Kunal. It’s been reported that the assultants had arrived on motorcycles and quickly fled the spot after the assault, following which Kunal was rushed to the hospital.

The victim BJP functionary who is still undergoing treatment in the hospital has alleged that it was a planned attack on him, ” they wanted to kill me, and it’s only by god’s grace that I am alive; they also threatened to cut me into pieces”, said Kunal.

The local BJP leader further alleged that a day before the incident, a few men were chasing him on motorcycles, following which he also lodged an FIR at Kranti Chowk police station. He further alleged that after lodging the FIR, he was again threatened by those involved in cow slaughtering.
