The nationwide movement, Fit India, was started in 2019 to encourage people to remain fit and healthy. The organisation has announced their new brand ambassador, Ankit Kumar Pandey, who is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
According to his LinkedIn bio, Pandey is the founder and National Chief Secretary of the Self-Defense Association of India. He is the State Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Silambam Association. He also acts as National Referee & Judge at United Amature Muaythai Association India.
Pandey is now appointed as the new Ambassador for Fit India for his dedication and commitment to fitness and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
As per the reports, he has motivated many people across India to embrace a healthy lifestyle. He has played a significant role in increasing awareness about the advantages of exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet.
While talking to the media, he said, “I am extremely honoured and humbled to be chosen as the Fit India ambassador. Fitness has been a passion of mine for many years, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to use my platform to promote it on a national level”.
The Fit India movement was launched on the occasion of National Sports Day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29, 2019. The Fit India movement aims to save millions of Indians from diseases, untimely deaths and suffering. To achieve the dream of a fit and healthy India, Fit India has proposed to conduct events and take initiatives to fulfil the following objectives:
-To promote fitness as easy, fun and free.
-To spread awareness on fitness and various physical activities that promote fitness through focused campaigns.
-To encourage indigenous sports.
-To make fitness reach every school, college/university, panchayat/village, etc.
-To create a platform for citizens of India to share information, drive awareness and encourage sharing of personal fitness stories.
The movement, since its inception, has developed many public playgrounds throughout the country. Even States and Union territories can request funds from the centre to buy fitness equipment for students studying in government schools. In November 2019, the prime minister also announced the fitness grading system for schools across India.
After all these years, the nationwide movement has got huge support from athletes, celebrities, and fitness enthusiasts such as cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Milind Soman, which has helped to create awareness about having a fit and healthy body.
