Guwahati: Bihu dance enters the Guinness Book of world records in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Guwahati on April 14. More than 11,000 Bihu Nachoni (Bihu dancer girls) and Dhulia (Drum players) performed a mesmerising show together in Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati, creating a record for the largest Bihu group dance in the presence of the Prime Minister. However, the record was officially accepted on April 13 by the Guinness Book Authority.

The certificate of the record was presented to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma by the Guinness Book authority in the prime minister’s presence. Speaking on occasion PM Modi said- I have full confidence in the youth of my nation. I know the energetic youth of our county will work relentlessly to make Bharat a developed country. The Prime Minister, who was in Assam on a day-long trip on the beginning day of the Rongali Bihu, dedicated Rs 14,300 crore in development projects to the nation.

PM Modi inaugurated the only All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Guwahati, at Changsari in Kamrup (Rural) district.

He dedicated the Rs 1,123 crore medical facility, the first AIIMS in the North East, to the nation and virtually inaugurated three medical colleges at Nalbari, Nagaon and Kokrajhar districts.

The prime minister also launched the distribution of 1.1 crore Ayushman cards to enable beneficiaries to avail of cashless healthcare medical treatment benefits up to Rs five lakh.

He also laid the foundation of the Rs 546 crore Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII), a joint initiative of the Assam government and IIT Guwahati.

AAHII aims to promote inventions and innovations in medicine and healthcare, nurturing multidisciplinary research and development in frontier areas of medicine.

PM Modi also graced the closing ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gauhati High Court in Shankardev Kalakshetra.

PM Modi also launched Rs 7,280 crore worth of five projects of new double lines, new lines and electrified North East Frontier Railway tracks, creating 700 km of railway infrastructure to improve connectivity in the North East. He also virtually launched the Rs 1,603 crore methanol plant of Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited at Namrup and laid the foundation for the 12.21 km long Palashbari-Sualkuchi Bridge Project across river Brahmaputra to be built at the cost of Rs 3,200 crore, and the foundation of the beautification of Asia’s oldest theatre of the Ahom era Rang Ghar Complex in Sivasagar at a total cost of Rs 124 crore.
