Chhattisgarh: Maoists torched a passenger bus in Dantewada

The incident took place on April 1, morning the Maoist asked all the passengers to vacate the bus before breaking the diesel tank and setting it on fire

Armed cadres of the proscribed CPI-Maoist have set ablaze a passenger bus near Ghotiya Chowk under Malwahi police station limits of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on April 1, the incident occurred when around 9.30 in the morning around two dozen cadres of the outlawed outfit stopped a passenger bus in route to Dantewada from Narayanpur on Barsur-Palli road and set it on fire.

It’s been reported that the Maoist asked all the passengers to vacate the bus before breaking the diesel tank and setting it on fire after, it’s been reported that the Maoist after giving a stern warning to the bus driver also put up a few banners near the spot after which the Ultras fled the spot.

Learning about the incident a police team was immediately rushed to the spot who later arranged other vehicles for the passengers, a search operation has been launched in the vicinity of the spot, said an official of the police familiar with the development.

Two Maoist held in Bijapur

While in a separate development in the neighboring Bijapur district, security forces have managed to arrest two active cadres of the outlawed CPI-Maoist from Tekari village under Mirtur police station limits on March 31.

It’s been reported that a joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRG), Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), and Chhattisgarh police was out on a combing operation on Hurrapal- Patel Para road when they nabbed two Maoist indulge in planting explosives in the area.

The arrested Maoists have been identified as Korsa Mangalu and Deva Muchaki, both members of the outlawed CPI-Maoists, during the course of interrogation the accused stated that they were part of the team which planted an IED near Tekari village on March 27.

It is to be noted that an assistant commandant of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) was also martyred in an IED explosion near Tekari village of Bijapur on March 27.

The incident occured when a team of CAF was out on an area domination exercise to ensure security for the road construction work near Tokari, though while searching one of the Jawan identified as Vijay Yadav inadvertently stepped over a pressure IED, triggering the blast in which he got martyred.
