Punjab police is into a massive crackdown against Khalistani leaders ever since the extremists and aids of Amritpal Singh stormed Anjala police station to rescuea Lovepreet Toofan in February this year. The police first banned YouTube channels and websites streaming pro-khalistani content. One such video has been making rounds on the internet where journalists can be seen terming the state of Punjab as ‘Indian occupied Punjab’.

Satluj Network, which calls itself an international media website that caters to a global audience. They promote themselves as the flagbearers of positive news from across the world and as people doing solid journalism. Their Twitter bio reads, “Follow Satluj Network for uplifting content, good news from around the world, insightful stories, messages of hope, and solid journalism.”

The channel operates from Glendale, AZ, the United States, and Arizona. Their pages are available on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, YouTube and others.

On March 21, they posed a video from their official Twitter account with a brief about the Amritpal Singh case. In this clip, the network claimed that the state of Punjab is Indian-occupied Punjab. The video also claimed that Amritpal was becoming a headache to the drug smugglers and the Indian government which is why the Indian government detained him illegally.

In another video from the Youtube channel of Satluj Network, a female journalist Ginger Jeffries, can be seen saying, ‘After Amritpal Singh was illegally detained by the Indian government from the Indian occupied Punjab, the Sikh around the world started protesting. The police, on the other hand, are not yet confirming if Singh are is arrested or not, but as per the sources sing and many of his colleagues have been taken to a prison in another place in India from Ludhiana airport. Singh was working against drugs on a large scale and Punjab and he was a big headache for the government and the drug system. The Government in Punjab has stopped internet services for an indefinite period thousands of Sikhs youth have been arrested from across Punjab.’

The video quoted Amritpal’s father Tarsem Singh saying, ‘why us that when someone tries to advocate for the rights of Punjab such as Deep Singh or Sidhu Moosewala they end up getting killed?’

Also, ‘This won’t resolve the issue and will only cause more bitterness among the people. Amrit pal Singh could have been apprehended easily since he was in the house until 8-9 in the morning. We were willing to surrender him to the authorities, The focus of the government should be on apprehending drug dealers instead of targeting those who are trying to make a positive contribution to their community’.

The users on social media call for action by the Ministry of Home and External Affairs as channels like these are spreading venom against the unity and integrity of the nation. Like many other channels, this also needs to be blocked in India, demands social media users.
