Chhattisgarh: 250 converted Christians revert to Sanatan fold in Jashpur

On February 21, in a ceremony of ‘Ghar wapsi', with the efforts of Dharm Jagran Samanvay Vibhag and Arya Samaj, a total of 250 converted Christians were brought back to ‘Sanatana Dharma’

In a ‘Ghar wapsi’ ceremony held in Imlipara near Chiknipali of Bagbahara in Jashpur of Chhattisgarh, around 250 people from 36 families were returned to the Sanatan fold on February 21.

According to the information provided in the ceremony, which was held with the efforts of Dharm Jagran Samanvay Vibhag and Arya Samaj, a total of 250 converted Christians were brought back to ‘Sanatana Dharma’.

It’s been learnt that the convenor of the Akhil Bhartiya Ghar Wapasi Samiti, Prabal Pratap Singh Judev washed the feet of the villagers with Gangajal and welcomed them home.

Speaking to the media, Prabal Judev asserted that the menace of conversion is a grave threat to the integrity and sovereignty of the Nation. In a video shared on the social media site Twitter, Judev can be heard saying the “conversion sharks are conspiring against the age-old culture of the Vanvasi (tribal) community; it’s a well-hatched conspiracy against the country, though as long as we are here, we will oppose it tooth and nail.”

Further, while appealing to the Hindu community to unite and uproot the incumbent Congress Government of the State, Judev alleged the congress government for shielding the conversion sharks in the State, ” the misdeeds of the Conversion sharks are overlooked by the state government. At the same time, our people are being killed publically; I appeal to all the Hindus of the state to unite and t the evil of the illegal conversion in the surrounding.

It should be noted that Jashpur has a long history of mission-backed illegal conversions where the conversion sharks have managed to convert a large chunk of the local vanvasi population to Christianity; most of these conversions are inspired by the perks provided by the missionaries along with the fallacy they propagate about the Sanatan Dharma and the vanvasi community traditions.

However, while the missionaries have been pushing their agendas for a long, organisations like Arya Samaj, Dharm Jagran Samanvay Samiti and Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapasi Samiti are running campaigns like Ghar Wapsi to fight the menace of the conversion sharks.

Notably, Judev and his team, through various ceremonies like the one held on February 21, have managed to re-convert more than 20000 people in the last couple of years alone; most of these people are residents of the tribal-dominated Jashpur and the adjoining regions of Odisha and Jharkhand.

In a similar event held in the Sundargarh district bordering Odisha, more than 500 people from 171 families were brought back into the Sanatan fold in October last year. In another ‘Ghar Wapsi’ ceremony held in Jashpur, more than 1200 converted Christians were brought back to Hinduism in November 2021.
