Asia’s largest air show Aero India 2023, is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from February 13 to February 17, 2023. In this Air show exhibition, India will showcase its latest equipment, helicopters and aircrafts. Also, Aero India is important as it provides an opportunity for defence personnel to gain first-hand experience on products envisaged for future induction into Indian Armed Forces.

In India’s pursuit to achieve ‘AatmaNirbharta’ in defence, recently, Indian Navy successfully landed the indigenous LCA (Navy) fighter on the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. This niche capability demonstrates the result of the Indian Navy’s long-term vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.

India is fast emerging as an aerospace and defence manufacturing hub and the whole world is looking at the country. Therefore, Aero India 2023 is an opportunity for exhibitors and participants to exchange ideas and forge collaborations to fulfil their quest to achieve excellence in aerospace sector and defence manufacturing.

According to the government, on February 11, 2023, during Aero India 2023, the Navy will be participating in several activities. During the event, the indigenous aircraft, M.R. aircraft P8I and ALH Mk III, would participate in the fly past and static display.

“In keeping with the emphasis on Aatmnirbharata in defence, a customized graphic Photo-Essay, compiled by HAL, as a reference document for undertaking repairs of engines of MiG 29K, would be presented to the Chief of the Naval Staff,” said the Government.

According to the ministry of defence, a project of analysing Health Usage & Monitoring System of MiG 29K aircraft, using A.I., has been included by DRDO, which will significantly reduce the data analysis time and result in a faster turnaround of aircraft and better prediction for preventive maintenance.

“India Navy will conduct a seminar on the topic ‘AatmaNirbharta in Aero Armament Sustenance’ in collaboration with DDP. This seminar will provide a platform to key stakeholders from User, the MoD, Maintainer, DRDO, QA agencies, DPSUs and the Indian industry to engage in discussions on the Government’s initiative for taking on sustenance of missiles held with the Armed Forces,” said the government on February 11, 2023. Notably, more than 800 defence companies, including 700 Indian and around 100 foreign companies will participate in the Aero India 2023 exhibition.

Also, the United States is sending its largest ever delegation. According to the U.S. Embassy, leading U.S. defence companies participating in Aero India 2023 with exhibits in the USA Partnership Pavilion include Aero Metals Alliance, Boeing, GE Aerospace, Astronautics Corporation of America, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc, Hi-Tech Import Export Corporation, Kallman Worldwide, Inc., Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney, Jonal Laboratories and T.W. Metals.
