New Delhi: Indian Railways has started WhatsApp communication for its passengers to order food through e-catering services with an aim to make the services more customer-centric. Passengers can use Railways’ Business WhatsApp number 91-8750001323 for the purpose.

Officials said, initially, two stages of implementation of e-catering services were planned through WhatsApp Communication. In the first phase, the Business WhatsApp number will send a message to the customer booking e-ticket for opting for e-catering services by clicking the link www.ecatering.irctc.co.in

With this option, the customers can book meals of their choice from the restaurants of their choice available at stations en-route directly through the e-catering website of IRCTC.

The WhatsApp number will be enabled to become an interactive two-way communication platform for the customer wherein a chatbot will handle all queries of e-catering services for the passengers and will also book meals for them.

To begin with, WhatsApp communication has been implemented for e-catering services on selected trains and passengers based on customer feedback and suggestions.

Massive Railways facelift in North East:

The Railways said that 59 stations in the Northeast would be developed with world-class amenities/facilities. Considering the heritage concept of ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’, officials say 310 old train coaches will be converted to LHB coaches for a better riding experience and comfortable journey for the passengers.

Fifteen stations in all divisions of North East Frontier Railways will be developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
