Maoist killed in an encounter in Chatra while Security forces recovered huge stocks of IEDs in Aurangabad

Security forces in Bihar and Jharkhand have been continuously running combing operations in the Maoist affected belt of the State which led to the arrest of many prominent Maoist active in the region

Security forces in Jharkhand have neutralized a Maoist in an encounter that occurred in the morning hours of January 28 in Kari Mandar village of Chatra district in Jharkhand.

The said encounter occurred near Bhutkaiyan- Kari Mandar village under Kunda police station limits of insurgency-hit Chatra, which followed fierce gunfire between forces and the Maoists, after which the body of a Maoist killed in action was found at the spot.

The deceased’s identity has not been established yet, and a search operation in the vicinity of the encounter site is on learnt Organiser.

As per the reports, security forces have got Intel about the presence of the Maoists in the Kari Mandar area, following which a joint team of personnel from the Cobra battalion (an elite unit of CRPF) and district force has been rushed to the locality.

It’s been reported that the Maoist opened indiscriminate fire upon the forces to which the personnel retaliated heavily, sensing the upper hand on the details. Maoists then fled to the nearby forests leaving the body of their associate.

It’s been reported that the said Maoists are from the infamous Manohar Gandhi gang and has a bounty of Rs 15 lakh on their head. Some of the Maoist also sustained serious injuries in the attack, confirmed an official involved in the operation.

IEDs recovered from Bihar

In a separate development, a joint team of CRPF and Bihar police managed to recover a huge stock of IEDs (improvised explosive device)  from Maoist-affected Aurangabad of Bihar on January 27.

As per the report, acting on a tipoff, a joint team led by CRPF had launched a search operation near the Laduiya Pahadi area of Aurangabad, in which as many as 162 IEDs have been recovered.

It’s been reported that the team initially traced a stock of 13 IEDs, after which a massive stock of 149 IEDs was recovered from a nearby cave; the Bomb Disposal unit has successfully diffused all the IEDs found, said an official of the Bihar police.

It should be noted that security forces in Bihar have been continuously running combing operations in the state’s Maoist-affected belt, which led to the arrest of many prominent Maoists active in the region.
