Bulandshahr: Amid the Christmas season, more than 100 people from 20 families belonging to the Valmiki community returned to Sanatan Dharma; notably, they had renounced Hindutva to convert to other religions in Uttar Pradesh’s Khurja.
The ‘Ghar Wapsi’ initiative was organised by Rashtriya Chetna Mission (RCM), along with Valmiki Sangh, with the help of local BJP MLA Minakshi Singh.
“Those, who had left Sanatan Dharma some generations or years ago due to their unpleasant situation or confusion were brought back to Hindu society again through this programme. They have taken an oath to pray to Shri Ram, Shri Krishna and other Hindu deities from now on,” Minakshi Singh said.
Hemant Singh, President of Rashtriya Chetna Mission, said, “A ‘Ghar Wapasi’ programme has been organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad, in which we are welcoming people who have come back to the Hindu religion.”
“Many people, who had converted to other religions due to some reasons, are now coming back to Sanatan Dharma,” Hemant Singh said.
“I followed Christianity after my child’s health got better when I offered prayer to Jesus. But when my mother died, they forced us to perform the rituals according to Christianity. Although my mother wanted us to perform her last rites according to Hindu Dharma,” says Sandeep Valmiki, who had reverted to Hinduism.
Local MLA Minakshi Singh welcomed the people returning to the Sanatan Dharma by garlanding them. “Around 100 people, who voluntarily converted to Islam were given the Vedic mantra and the legal process was also carried out,” she said.
Rashtriya Chetna Mission and VHP also organised a religious retreat programme at Kalindi Kunj Colony in Khurja.
