Leicester Violence and the Fake Narrative of ‘Hindu Terror’

“There was a widespread perception that messages conveyed by some senior people in the Council and also the Police, were to ‘downplay’ the ethnic dimensions of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Unsurprisingly, frontline staff appeared to be confused as to what they were supposed to say and do and what would be interpreted as ‘racist’. From a political perspective, the approach of avoiding public discussion of the issues was ill judged” –Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Rotherham 1997 – 2013, by Alexis Jay OBE, submitted on August 21, 2014

An independent inquiry by a United Kingdom-based think-tank yet again exposed the fake theory of linking ‘Hindutva’ to terrorism. A 39-page report, prepared by Charlotte Littlewood of Henry Jackson Society’s Centre on Radicalisation and Terrorism, has busted the myth of Hindu fascism and terrorism comprehensively. The investigation has categorically identified what it was not with evidence and inquiry on the ground. Simultaneously, the report indicates what and who has been behind this communal violence.

A series of violent clashes erupted in Leicester, spilling over other parts of the United Kingdom like Birmingham after a cricket match between India and Pakistan on August 28.

The ruckus started over an allegedly drunken man insulting the national flag of Bharat. The cricket fans supporting Bharat raised the slogans’ down with Pakistan’. For some strange reason, some social media influencers turned this into anti-Islamic slogans, and the police department led by Paul Allen also believed the same. Since then, some Islamic groups have peddled fake news through social media platforms throughout Ganesh Chaturthi and Navaratri, two prominent Hindu festivals. They used a toolkit to spread misinformation and instigate people, such as the abduction of a Muslim girl, Hindus attacking Muslims, even temples, BJP and RSS behind orchestrating this violence and an attack on a mosque. Though both Hindus and Muslims took out the marches, the stories of violence proved to be contrary to what was spread by social media influencers.

As the report pointed out, it is the Hindu community in Leicester that was targeted, attacked, and still fear for their safety. Many families have left their homes in the so-called “Muslim area”, still waiting to return. Unfortunately, the mainstream media also followed the stories planted by blatantly Islamist social media influencers like Norman Khan, Majid Freeman, Mohammad Hijab etc. Some of them have links with the terror outfits like Hizb-ut-Tahrir and the ‘D’ company. Thankfully, the investigative report by the think tank names and shames them with evidence.

The problem areas in epicentres of violence are evident. The demographic imbalance is one of them. Like any other South Asian town, the Muslim ghettos are no-go zones for others. Any other religious festivals are not allowed to celebrate. Historically, attacks on processions passing through any mosque during the Hindu festivals have been one of the main reasons behind communal clashes in Bharat. Now the same pattern is being replicated in other parts of the world. Besides the traditional Asian localities of Britain, the influx of Muslim refugees from Afghanistan and Syria has further aggravated this demographic imbalance. European countries, including the United Kingdom, cannot ignore this problem.

Since the terror attack on World Trade Center, there has been a consistent attempt to build a narrative of Islamophobia to whitewash the violent traits of radical Islam. In the same effort, all other communities, including Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Christians and Jews, are painted as terrorists. The left-leaning intellectuals monopolising media and academia provide enough cover for such narratives. The ‘liberal’ obsession with forged ‘multiculturalism’ and ‘political correctness’ further aggravates the concern. Earlier, in the Child Sexual Exploitation cases, popularly known as grooming gangs, the ‘more deep-rooted problem of Pakistani-heritage perpetrators targeting young white girls’ was also ignored by the authorities as it was politically inconvenient.

Labelling Hindu thought and organisations as fascist and terrorist emerges from the same mentality. Hindutva or Hinduness is a worldview that believes in celebrating diversity and all ways to be equally true and respected. Unfortunately, secular correctness has denounced this very Hinduness for decades. An independent report on Leicester violence has further exposed this prejudiced plot and campaign.
