Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai’s 149th book ‘Lockdown Poems’ released

Kozhikode: Noted writer and novelist M T Vasudevan Nair released Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai’s 149th book, titled ‘Lockdown Poems’. Shri M T Vasudevan Nair handed over a copy of the book to M K Raghavan MP at the former’s residence in Kozhikode, on Thursday.

The book is a collection of Malayalam poems written during the lockdown days, when Shri Sreedharan Pillai was the governor of Mizoram.  Thrissur Current Books is the publisher.

A long narrative poem in the anthology is a poignant portrayal of the legend of the chief architect of the Taj Mahal, whose hands were chopped off by Shah Jahan so that he could not build another architectural marvel, a replica of the Taj. In other poems, the poet tried to capture the amazing landscape and scenic beauty of Mizoram.

P S Sreedharan Pillai is a politician, lawyer, and author, who is currently serving as the 19th Governor of Goa state. He had also served as the Governor of Mizoram. Previously, he was the Bharatiya Janata Party president of Kerala state.

In a literary career spanning four decades, Sreedharan Pillai has authored 149 books. Known mostly for his poetry, he has also written books on legal matters, jurisprudence, and contemporary socio-political issues.
