Kozhikode: Noted writer and novelist M T Vasudevan Nair released Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai’s 149th book, titled ‘Lockdown Poems’. Shri M T Vasudevan Nair handed over a copy of the book to M K Raghavan MP at the former’s residence in Kozhikode, on Thursday.

The book is a collection of Malayalam poems written during the lockdown days, when Shri Sreedharan Pillai was the governor of Mizoram.  Thrissur Current Books is the publisher.

A long narrative poem in the anthology is a poignant portrayal of the legend of the chief architect of the Taj Mahal, whose hands were chopped off by Shah Jahan so that he could not build another architectural marvel, a replica of the Taj. In other poems, the poet tried to capture the amazing landscape and scenic beauty of Mizoram.

In a literary career spanning four decades, Sreedharan Pillai has authored 149 books. Known mostly for his poetry, he has also written books on legal matters, jurisprudence, and contemporary socio-political issues.
