PM Narendra Modi orders 10 lakh Govt recruitment in next 18 months

New Delhi: In a major policy decision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked various government departments and ministries to undertake the recruitment of about 10 lakh people on a “mission mode” in the next year and a half — that is 18 months’ time.

Official sources said the Prime Minister reviewed the status of human resources across all government departments and ministries and subsequent to that, the instructions were issued.

“PM @narendramodi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next 1.5 years,” a tweet from PMO said on Tuesday, June 14.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said the ‘review meeting’ comes more than two months after he suggested the secretaries of the central government to take immediate steps to fill up existing vacancies in the ministries and departments.

During his meeting with the secretaries on April 2, PM Modi had stressed that employment should be the focus of all government interventions in public and private sectors.

The cabinet secretary Rajiv Gauba had written to the secretaries and requested them to initiate immediate action on the Prime Minister’s suggestion.
