Sri Sadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar is a Sri Vaishnava sanyasi and the pontiff of the Mannargudi Chendalakara Shenbaka Mannar Mutt. Seers of Sri Vaishnava Mutts are being called ‘Jeeyar Swamigal’.

DMK government has been arresting adversaries for making criticism and book them under the Goonda act. After arresting politicians, now their plan is to do the same with Hindu mutt heads. It is to silence their voices. BJP Chief Annamalai, Madurai Adheenam, a Muslim have come forward to carry the palanquin. Meanwhile, a total 72 members of 60 families residing in the Dharmapuri Adheenam area, who have been carrying the palanquin during the Pattina Pravesam (entering the city), an annual ritual for centuries, said that they were doing this as a service to the disciples of the Lord and there was no violation of human dignity in it. “Adheenam has been doing everything for our livelihood. I completed my UG at the college run by the mutt”, one of the youths said in a video statement. They said it was their right to bear the palanquin and that no one could interfere in it and appealed to the state government to lift the ban.
