Peace has come back to Assam after three decades; will return your love with interest as development projects: PM Modi

Howraghat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ambitious “Amrit Sarovor” project by the Assam government on Thursday (April 28). Addressing the “Peace, Unity and Development” rally in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, PM Modi said the development of villages is a must for the nation’s development. He said peace has come back to the state after three decades. Referring to the withdrawal of AFSPA from 23 districts of Assam, PM said the days of violence and the sound of guns and blasts are gone from Assam. Referring to the 400th birth anniversary of Veer Lachit Borphukan, PM Modi said, “His life is an example of patriotism, and I salute him from the core of my heart.”

PM Modi also laid the foundation stones of projects worth Rupees 500 crores in Karbi Anglong, which includes Agriculture college, Model college and Veterinary college in the hill district. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the ambitious Amrit Sarovar project. The Assam government would develop 2985 water bodies in the state for water conservation with a budget of Rupees 1150 crore.

Addressing the huge gathering in Karbi language, PM Modi said, “The enormous love and blessings you have shown to me will be returned with interest as development works.” PM Modi will also inaugurate seven cancer care hospitals in Assam from Dibrugarh.
