Mega programmes across the northeast to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced that the unsung heroes of the North East would also be celebrated across the week through different programs and events.

New Delhi: Mega programmes will be organised across the northeast region to celebrate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav–North East Festival in various state capitals in the region.

The celebration will get underway on April 28, Thursday and continue till May 4, the Minister for Development of North East Region, DoNER, G. Kishan Reddy, told reporters in New Delhi.

The highlights include an Investment Potential and future energy needs of North East meeting in Shillong on April 29, the Welfare of Tribals and Border Management event on April 30 in Itanagar and The Smart City Revolution in the NE on April 30 in Gangtok.

Similar programmes at a grand scale will be taken up in other states in the region.

There will be one on the Role of women in the development of NE on May 1 at Agartala, Eco-Tourism in NE on May 2 in Aizwal and Agri Horti and organic products potential of North Easton on May 2 in Dimapur in Nagaland.

A Sports Potential of the NE will be celebrated as a parallel Sports week has also been organised.

He announced that the valedictory session would be celebrated on May 4 in Guwahati. President Ram Nath Kovind will grace the valedictory session along with Governors and Chief Ministers of all the states in the region.

Reddy also announced that the unsung heroes of the North East would also be celebrated across the week through different programs and events.
