RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale said Dipok Barthakur was a true devotee of Hindu culture and devoted his life to uniting people.

Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sarkaryavah of RSS Dattatreya Hosabale attended a "Shradhanjali" programme of noted social worker and veteran Swayamsevak late Dipok Kumar Barthakur, which was held at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Monday (February 28).

Speaking on occasion, Sarkaryabah Hosabale said, "I had come to his book launch program on April 12, 2020. After that, it was not in my imagination that I would have to come to pay tribute to Deepakda so soon. But we are helpless in front of the wish of destiny. Deepakada gave such an introduction to the idea of the organization that it went to the consciences of all people. He had reverence for the people who came from other parts of India and great respect for the Assamese culture. A true devotee of Hindu culture, Dipok Borthakur devoted his life to uniting people. Working for people and the society, he always opened the doors of his heart for the people. Even his house name was Ashray. Such was his love for people and society. He founded Vivekananda International center from a small club in Guwahati, and it is a centre of excellence in the region."

Chief Minister Dr Sarma paid tribute to the late Barthakur on occasion and recollected his association with him. He said late Barthakur devoted his life to the betterment of society, the development of the state and building the foundation of Sanatani culture in Assam.

Throughout life, late Barthakur contributed to the formation of various socio-cultural institutions of Assam, including Vivekananda Kendra, Sankardeva Nethralaya, Sankardeva Sishu Niketan, New Arts Players, Balaji Mandir, Nagarik Bank etc., said Dr Sarma.

Stating that late Barthakur was known for his strong nationalistic fervour and was deeply rooted in Indian culture and civilization, the Chief Minister said late Barthakur played a key role in mainstreaming the ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the social life of Assam and institutionalizing this ideology.

He also highlighted late Barthakur's contribution as an industrialist and said his works would continue to inspire the young generation. Dr Sarma termed the death of Barthakur as an irreparable loss to the socio-cultural life of Assam.

Dr Sarma and other dignitaries released the Assamese version of the late Barthakur's biography on occasion. Satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra Janardan Deva Goswami, President of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari A Balakrishnan, Assam Kshetra Sanghchalak of RSS Dr Umesh Chakraborty, wife of late Barthakur Dr Indira Barthakur and a host of admirers of late Barthakur were present in the Shradhanjali programme.
