Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, has termed the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi as a legendary leader and thanked him for saving lives during the COVID pandemic.

The Chief Minister made the statement while addressing the gathering at a public meeting held today (February 22) at Luwangpokpa Multi-Sports Complex, Luwangshangbam, Imphal East.

"When the state was reeling under distress and created an 'untouchability like situation even among family members' due to the COVID pandemic, Prime Minister Modi provided free rations and vaccines for the people of Manipur; many lives were saved from starvation and many were saved from Coronavirus," said the Chief Minister.

He also said in order to protect the people of Manipur, PM Modi has given the Inner Line Permit (ILP). This is the love and respect of Modi for the people of Manipur.

"We need to show our gratitude to Modi for giving ILP and ensuring protection of the people of Manipur; free rations and COVID vaccines during our time of trouble. We should pay our gratitude by securing 40 plus seats in the ensuing Manipur legislative assembly election 2022," said Biren Singh.

President of BJP Unit, Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi, said while welcoming the Prime Minister that Modi is the only Prime Minister who works for the development of the Northeast and spreads the message of Northeast to others. She also appealed to the people of Manipur to vote for BJP, give the party an absolute majority and show gratitude to Modi, who always stands for the people of Northeastern states.
