BJP President Nadda said the saffron party remains committed to protecting the 'integrity' of Manipur and the indigenous identity of the state and the people.

New Delhi: BJP national president J P Nadda on Thursday (February 17) released the BJP Manifesto for 2022 polls and pledged to ensure "more development" for the state in the future.

"Released manifesto for Manipur Assembly Election 2022 in Imphal today. The state has undergone a change from instability to stability and from stability to the big leap forward – we will ensure more development in the future," tweeted the BJP national president.

Nadda said, "We will provide free laptop to all those who passed the higher secondary education for their further studies." The ruling party in the centre and the state also promised to set up an All India Medical Science College (AIMS) in Manipur.

The BJP chief also mentioned a Rs 100 crore budget for providing a startup scheme with zero interest and generation of one lakh employment. He said, "Our history shows what we have done. We will be coming up with our report card."

In the context of geopolitical and social issues, Nadda said the saffron party remains committed to protecting the 'integrity' of Manipur and the indigenous identity of the state and the people.

The Lotus party also promised free LPG connections to poor families, pledged to give incentives to 25,000 students with scholarships, a skill university, special accidental benefits to fishermen, an increase in the monthly pension of senior citizens from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000. It also promised to boost tourism and launch a new train.

Speaking at the launch of the BJP manifesto, Nadda also said, "Manipur is a land of positive vibes, potential talents and gateway to Southeast Asia. The state has witnessed immense developmental changes in the last five years under the able leadership of Chief Minister (N Biren Singh)."

"….The state has moved from instability to stability; from stability to a big leap; from insurgency to peace and zero tolerance for drugs. Manipur which was once known for bandh and blockades is now known for development," he asserted.

The BJP national president also maintained that the party's poll manifesto reflects the culture of Manipur.  "Unlike that of other political parties, the BJP Manifesto is not just a piece of paper, but the commitment for next five years," Nadda said.

The BJP manifesto was released in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, state BJP president A Sharda Devi, Union Minister of State for External Affairs R K Ranjan, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra, among others.

Meanwhile, the BJP leaders from Nagaland would also be campaigning in Naga dominated areas of the state. The Nagaland unit BJP president Temjen Imna Along has held a meeting with party office bearers at Kohima and discussed various issues. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's Senapati address on Wednesday was also discussed and analysed by a few leaders both in Kohima and in Imphal.

On February 15, Naga BJP MLAs, including deputy CM Y. Patton, Jacob Zhimomi and Mmhonlumo Kikon, held a meeting with the BJP in charge of Manipur Sambit Patra.
