BSF foiled attempt of Narcotic smuggling on Indo-Bangladesh border; Seized 7400 bottles of banned contrabands

Guwahati: In yet another success in its crusade against trans-border crime, vigilant Seema Praharis under the aegis of Border Security Force Guwahati Frontier seized 7400 bottles of prohibited cough syrup and 27 Kgs Ganja on Indo–BD International border on Wednesday (January 19).

On specific intelligence input, a special joint operation party of 47 Bn BSF and Police carried out search operation in bordering Village Golenahati in Coochbehar on Indo-Bangladesh border and searched the house of smuggler Saibul Islam. The BSF team seized 7,400 bottles of prohibited cough syrup worth ₹14 lakhs and 27 Kgs Ganaj during the search operation. These narcotic items were stored in the house for smuggling from India to Bangladesh.  

The seized narcotic items have been handed over to Police Station Sitlkuchi for further legal action. Keeping in view the vulnerability of the heightened border activities of drug traffickers and anti-national elements, BSF troops are always alert and are making all-out efforts to prevent such crimes.
