Unidentified persons, suspected to be fundamentalist elements, brutally attacked Ravi, who is a Dharma Jagran Zilla Pramuk of Theni on January 7.

According to sources in RSS and Hindu Munnani, the attack took place four days after Ravi complained to local police against Abdul Razak, who dumps slaughtered animals' waste of avian and cattle in the land owned by Ravi. Ravi has been working in the area, helping people to get the benefits of various central government schemes. He also helps the locals mitigate their problems by taking them up with an appropriate forum and authorities. He has been an active RSS Swayamsevak for ten years and is residing in Cumbam with his two daughters, a son and has an auto spare parts shop.

He argued with Razak of Koodalur about dumping the slaughtered remains in his land. Razak and his people threatened him with dire consequences if Ravi prevented him from dumping animal waste like bone and others, but Ravi complained to the police four days ago. Police called Razak and told him not to dump the slaughtered waste in the land owned by Ravi. The police inspectoor got a written statement from both sides.

SDPI, PFI and Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaat (TNTJ) are active in Cumbum, Theni, Devathana Patti, Periyakulam, Chinnamanur, Uthamapuram as these areas have a high density of Muslim population. Sources explained the police inspector advised Razak not to pour slaughtered wastes on Ravi's land. Enraged Muslims protested in front of the police station, accusing the Inspector of taking sides with Hindus. When Ravi was on his way to open his shop on the 7th, four people on two bikes attacked him with iron rods, machetes, wooden clubs, intending to kill him. They rained blows on his head, until Ravi lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground. The attackers beat him till the public and karyakarthas rushed to save him from their assaults. The four bike-borne attackers fled the scene and he was rushed to Govt Hospital, Cumbam, for treatment and taken for intensive care treatment at Govt. Hospital at Theni.

Ravi is said to be stable but is yet to recover from the shock and can't speak to the people visiting him. RSS, Hindu Munnani, VHP and other outfits staged protests in front of the police station condemning the attack and demanded speedy action in bringing the perpetrators before the law. This is the not first such incident in the state by Islamic fundamentalists. NIA arrested some people for throwing hand grenades and another from Kombai for his links with terror groups. SDPI, PFI, TNTJ have been making hate speeches and using abusive language against PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, other BJP leaders and Hindus, especially during Anti CAA and Ram Mandir issues. About fifty Vivid Kshetra karyakarthas protested in Cumbam town and hundreds participated in the demonstration against the brutal attack at Theni. The attack once again proved how fundamentalists are active and attack people they feel are a hindrance to their agenda.
