Earlier on Dec 1, the Pak High Commission in New Delhi issued 136 visas to 'Indian Hindu pilgrims' for a visit to their religious sites in Pakistan.

New Delhi: The High Commission for Pakistan in India on Dec 14 issued 112 visas to 'Indian Hindu pilgrims' for their visit to a prominent Hindu Temple in Punjab province in Pakistan.

The group would be visiting Shree Katas Raj Temples, also known as Qila Katas or complex of Katas Temples in Chakwal district of Punjab, a statement from the High Commission said.

The visit will be between Dec 17 to 23, 2021. Katas Raj Temple is surrounded by a pond that is considered sacred by Hindus.

The release said that the visit is covered under the Pakistan-India Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines, 1974.

In addition to visas for Hindu religious places covered under the framework of the bilateral protocol, many Indian Hindus are issued visas by the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi, regularly to visit their families and friends in Pakistan, the High Commission said.

"The High Commission wishes a spiritually rewarding pilgrimage to Hindu Pilgrims visiting Pakistan."
