The video of Ehsan raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Saharanpur went viral on social media platforms.

The Deobandi maulanas issued a fatwa against Ehsan for raising slogans ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. The video of Ehsan raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in the Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Saharanpur on Thursday (December 2) had gone viral on social media platforms.

Mufti Asad Kashim of Madarsa Shaikhul Hind of Deoband accused Ehsan of acting against the principles of Islam and threatened to expel him from Islam. He said, “These are prohibited in Islam and he should repent for his actions. If he doesn’t, we’ll take action and expel him from Islam.”

Ehsan refused to repent or apologise. In a video message, he said Lord Ram is our forefather, and there is no harm in raising slogans praising Lord Ram.

“We are the descendants of Lord Ram. He was our forefather. There is no problem in chanting in praise for the nation where we live. Jai Shri Ram is the slogan of love. Lord Ram is the centre of faith for millions of people,” he said in the video message.

In the same video message, he asked Maulanas why don’t they issue fatwa when someone says Jai Bhim or Jai Nehru. Ehsan said, “Do they issue a fatwa for chanting Jai Nehru, Jai Lohia, Jai Bhim, Jai Charan Singh? Then, why did they issue a fatwa against me? I am being threatened for chanting slogans. But I have faith in the administration that it will protect me. Maulanas should stay happy with their religion and I stay happy with my faith.”

The Deobandi Maulanas said Islam prohibits praising anyone but Allah. And by raising slogans in praise of Bharat Mata and Lord Ram, Ehsan has disregarded the basic Islamic principle.

On Thursday (December 2), Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a rally in UP’s Saharanpur in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Praising the law & order situation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Shri Shah said, “In 2017, I had come to Saharanpur and after the public meeting, many people asked me, ‘We will bring change in Uttar Pradesh but with the change, will migration occurring here reduce?’ I had told them, ‘You bring BJP to power once; aapko palayan karane waale Uttar Pradesh se palayan kar jaayenge (those responsible for your exodus will exit UP).”
