Narco Jihad on its pick: Assam police arrested drug mafia Burhan Uddin and seized drugs worth Rupees 3 Crore

Assam police intelligence sources told "Organiser" that YABA tablets are in high demand in neighbouring Bangladesh. It is believed that these tablets are being used by terror groups as a drug to radicalise the youth in the country.

 

Guwahati: Narco Jihad is in full swing in the state of Assam, and Assam police are busy hunting those drug peddlers trying to spread the poison in the state. As a part of the ongoing war against drugs, Assam police conducted a series of successful raids across the state. 

In a successful operation, a team of Veterbond AD camp under Ratabari police station in Karimganj district seized a huge amount of contraband. A consignment of 100,000 YABA tablets worth Rupees 3 crores was seized from the possession of one Burhan Uddin. The drug peddler was on the way from Aizawl in an Innova car. The police team, with a confirmed tipoff, searched his vehicle in the Veterband area in the Karimganj district. 

The search team found 45 packets of banned YABA tablets wrapped in blue polythene. Karimganj police arrested the drug peddler Burhan Uddin and further investigations are on to crack the entire racket.

In the second successive drug bust of the day, Churaibari police in Karimganj district recovered 7 kgs of suspected ganja from the possession of one Kamal Hoque of Sonamura, Tripura. Kamal Haque pedals Gaja from Tripura to Karimganj in Assam regularly. After much investigation, the district police arrested the ganja mafia.

On the 5th of November, also Karimganj police successfully arrested two drug peddlers Anuwar and Saidul and seized 10,000 YABA tablets and 58.9 kilograms of ganja in Ratabari and Patharkandi areas, respectively.

It is believed that these tablets are being used by terror groups as a drug to radicalise the youth in the country. It has demanded in the bordering districts of Assam and Tripura also. Assam police seized more than 25 lakhs of YABA tablets and arrested several peddlers in its war against drugs.
