Guwahati: Thousands bid adieu with teary eyes to the brave martyr Suman Swargiary in his birthplace Barama in Baksa district of Assam on Monday. Martyr Suman Swargiary made the supreme sacrifice in Manipur fighting against terrorists and Col Viplab Tripathi and three other soldier martyrs on Saturday.

Martyr Suman was the only male member of his family left behind his old mother, wife and three-year-old son and his younger sister. Militants killed his father in 2007. His family was in shock ever since they received the information of the deadly ambush in Manipur. Martyr Suman spoke to his wife only two hours before the attack. He was talking about the development of the construction of their new house. Martyr Suman was planning to visit home in December to attend the third birthday of his only son. But he couldn't make it. His body wrapped in tricolour reached his home on Monday morning.

The Health Minister of Assam Keshab Mahanta and senior government officials paid tribute to the braveheart at the Guwahati airport. Thousands paid homage to the martyr at his birthplace, Barama, in the Baksa district. Martyr Suman Swargiary's family wants justice and asked the government to bring the perpetrators to justice soon. On Saturday, PLA Manipur terrorists ambushed an Assam Rifles convoy in Churachandpur district and killed 5 AR personnel, including CO Viplav Tripathi, his wife, and 6 years old son.

Assam Rifles sources said that nearly 60 to 70 heavily armed terrorists triggered IED on the convoy and then opened fire with automatic weapons, killing 7 persons on the spot and injuring 6 jawans. In one of the deadly attacks on security forces by terrorists in Manipur in recent times, Col Viplav Tripathi, Soldiers Suman Swargiary, Khatnei Konyak, R P Meena and Shyamal Das were martyred. Anand Singh, Sachindra Deb, RN Mardi, Subir Paul, Sandeep Patil and Bhutya Meraman were injured in the attack.
