Imphal, 13 November 2021: An Assam Rifles Colonel, his wife and son along with 4 soldiers were killed in an ambush by armed militant in Churachandpur district near Indo-Myanmar border.
According to local sources, the armed militants launched the ambush near S Sehken village today morning at around 10 while the Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles, Col. Viplav Tripathy was returning from a forward camp with his convey and family members. The Colonel, wife and his son died at the spot.
Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and condemned the cowardly attack on Assam Rifles, “The cowardly attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in Churachandpur, Manipur is extremely painful & condemnable. The nation has lost 5 brave soldiers including CO 46 AR and two family members. My condolences to the bereaved families. The perpetrators will be brought to justice soon.”
Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh wrote on Twitter, “Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on a convoy of 46 AR which has reportedly killed few personnel including the CO & his family at CCpur today. The State forces & Para military are already on their job to track down the militants. The perpetrators will be brought to justice.”
