BJP Governments in Assam and Manipur have been working relentlessly against Narco Jihad and have arrested numerous drug mafia peddlers in recent days.

Guwahati: Narco Jihad in North East is on another level. After the BJP government's war against drugs in Assam and Manipur, drug rackets are frequently changing their modus operandi. Now the female "Drugs Begums" are in charge of drug peddling in the North East. Assam and Manipur Police apprehended three such drug begums in two days. Nagaon police, on Wednesday (October 20), after a hard try, succeeded in arresting the notorious drug kingpin, Sitara Begum.

Nagaon police team, after a confirmed tipoff, surrounded the Chaparmukh railway station. Old-time drug mafia Sitara Begum and her gang were carrying drugs from Nagaland in a passenger train. Police apprehended Sitara Begum and her gang Ainul Haque, Rashidul Haq and Wadikul Islam in the station and seized Heroin worth 85 Lakhs. 

Nagaon SP Anand Mishra said that they had been old-time Mafia and Dealers in Drugs with a big army of small-time peddlers are working for them. This racket is now peddling drugs in the rural areas of the Nagaon district.

In another operation by Assam police headed by Sonitpur district police DySP Sudhanya, Suklabaidya and team arrested drug mafia Sumi Das Islam. The police team raided the house of one Sumi Das Islam and seized a huge amount of brown sugar. Sumi Das Islam operates a drug racket in Sonitpir district with his Love Jihadi husband, Nazrul Islam @ Sunu. The police Team successfully recovered 75 plastic containers containing 13.5 grams of suspected brown sugar each, cash amounting to Rupees 5900 and four mobile handsets. The accused has been apprehended, and further legal action is going on.

In Manipur, a woman drug peddler was arrested by the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Imphal East district, on Tuesday and heroin worth Rs 72 lakhs was seized from her possession. 

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren posted on social media, saying, "Manipur continues to cripple the drug cartels. A combined team of Narcotic Cell, Imphal East Police, and local authorities seized 30 soap cases of heroin powder worth 72 Lacs from a woman at Yairipok. We will not rest until the drug business has been annihilated."

Manipur police, acting on reliable information, arrested Sana Khan, 37, wife of Md Ayub Khan of Yairipok Tulihal Touboku. On examination, one backpack was detected containing 30 soap cases of heroin powder weighing 360 grams. The seized drugs could be around Rs 72 lakh in international market value, Police said. Sana Khan was trying to hide the drugs in a public toilet. The police team, accompanied by female constables and district magistrate, searched the spot and seized the drugs.

Accordingly, Sana was arrested in the presence of witnesses from the spot by observing formalities. Arrested Sana Khan and her husband run a drug racket along with several drug peddlers working under them, she confessed in the initial interrogation. The arrested person and the seized drugs have been handed over to Andro Police Station for further legal action.
