NYT’s fake news comes at a time when a Muslim majority nation like Bangladesh had refused to let in Afghan Muslims into their country.
In yet another attempt to malign India’s image globally, the New York Times has carried another fake news saying that India was only welcoming Afghan Hindus and Sikhs. They also brought in the CAA angle to their story. But the government of India had introduced an ‘emergency e-visa' for all Afghans after Kabul fell to the hands of Taliban terrorists. NYT’s fake news comes at a time when a Muslim majority nation like Bangladesh had refused to let in Afghan Muslims into their country.
Refuting the claim made by New York Times, senior Journalist Kanchan Gupta tweeted, “Once again @nytimes found grossly lying through its teeth. #India has promptly introduced an emergency e-visa for #Afghanistan nationals. No religious criteria mentioned. Apart from Hindus and Sikhs, India has said it stands by and will offer all assistance to Afghan friends.”
Kanchan Gupta also asked NYT to focus on the US abandoning Afghanistan in such a crisis. “Instead of peddling gross distortions and #FakeNews on #India, it would be better if @nytimes were to focus on #US abandoning #Afghanistan and leaving Afghans to their fate. Neither Operation Infinite Justice nor Operation Enduring Freedom. But that’s Western Media for you,” he wrote on Twitter.
