In an order issued on Friday (August 6), the Ladakh administration removed the requirement of ILP for domestic tourists.
In a big relief for the domestic tourists, the Ladakh administration removed the requirement of inner line permit for the domestic tourists. The administration issued an order to this effect on Friday (August 6).
As per a 2017 order, domestic tourists were required to obtain an ILP to visit the Ladakh region's interiors.
The domestic tourists were required to get ILPs in Ladakh to visit the inner line places like Nubra Valley, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Dah, Hanu Villages, Man, Merak, Nyoma, Loma Bend, Turtuk, Tyakshi, Chusul and Hanle.
The application for such permits was available through the website of the Ladakh administration.
But, domestic tourists can now visit places without a permit.
Earlier, Ladakh was part of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. On August 5, 2019, the Union government scrapped Article 370 and 35A, thereby ending the special provision of Jammu and Kashmir.
The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was reorganised as two union territories: Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
