Afghan national arrested for working in Cochin shipyard with Fake ID, Police probing terror angle

An Afghan national masquerading as labour from Assam has been arrested by police from Kolkata. Eid Gul was working in Cochin shipyard with the name Abbas Khan. Gul was working as a contract labourer with a private company. Once the news of a probe regarding identity theft came out, Gul went on missing. Reports suggest that Gul worked at the shipyard for three years under the pseudo-name ‘Abbas Khan’.
The shipyard had filed a complaint with the police, expressing their doubts of people faking identity working at the shipyard. During the investigation, police came across Eid Gul and thus he was arrested. By tracing the phone location of Eid Gul, the police nabbed him from Kolkata. An ID card on the name ‘Abbas Khan’ has also been recovered from him.
Eid Gul has been brought back to Kochi. The police are probing the terror angle. Further investigation is underway.
