Police from various states have been apprehending Rohingyas who have unlawfully entered the nation and own all bogus documents.

The Hyderabad police arrested two Rohingyas on Wednesday (July 7) for obtaining many identity documents illegally and are on the lookout for two more.

Both had crossed the border illegally. Once in the country, they got many identity documents like PAN, Aadhaar, Ration cards, Voter ID cards, etc. illegally. They had used the documents to get phone connections and bank accounts.

Abdul Munnaf alias Ayan Ansari, 31, and Hafiz Ahmed, 34, both arrested Rohingyas, entered India across the Bangladesh border in 2014 and 2017.

Both are from Myanmar.

After crossing the border, Abdul moved to Punjab and, Hafiz moved to Mumbai.

After some time, both moved to Delhi in search of work. Here, they got PAN, Aadhaar, Voter ID card, and Ration card illegally. They used the same documents to get phone connections and open bank accounts.

In 2018, they moved to Hyderabad.

In India, Abdul married Noor Khalima and, Hafiz married Shaik Rofika. Police are searching for Noor and Shaik.

Many Rohingyas, who have entered the country illegally, have obtained identity documents through fraudulent means. The challenge for the security agencies is to identify them.

Last month, police in Uttar Pradesh caught a gang, which was assisting Rohingyas in crossing the border and getting fraudulent identification certificates. The UP Police is running a special drive in all the 75 districts of the state to identify and arrest Rohingyas who have illegally crossed the border.

Last week, Andhra Pradesh police had arrested eight Bangladeshi migrants who had crossed the border illegally. The police suspect they were running a racket.
