The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) observed 3rd June 2021 as Bengal Solidarity Day. The decision was taken at the National Office Bearer meeting held recently in virtual mode, presided by its president Shri Hiranmay Pandya. As part of Bengal Solidarity Day, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh units conducted webinars, seminars and gate meetings by following COVID-19 norms laid down by the respective State Governments. At the same time, the BMS units also send memorandums to the Chief Minister and Governor of West Bengal demanding immediate action on those Trinamool Congress activists who were responsible for perpetuating violence on poor workers like fisherman, weavers, and street vendors last month after the Assembly election results were announced.
In a statement, the BMS pointed out that in South 24 Parganas district and East Medinapur district, fishermen were driven out of their villages. In many parts of the State, Electric rickshaws were broken and weaving equipment of Handloom weavers were destroyed. Even beedi workers have not been spared. They are not getting material as Beedi owners in several districts have been threatened. Brutal attacks on plantation workers, snatching gate passes of contract workers working in Industrial establishments, burning and looting of street vendors shops, continuous threatening to State Government employees are few examples of terror unleashed by TMC activists.
BMC also noted that things have not become normal even after one month. BMS strongly feels that the attacks on ordinary labour class are an attack on Human Rights and fundamental rights.
