CM Sharma calls on Assam Governor

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma called on State Governor professor Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhavan in the city on Tuesday and apprised the latter of several activities that the government is undertaking for the welfare of State residences.

 

During the meeting, among other issues, CM Sarma and Governor Mukhi discussed issues about the qualitative improvement of higher education. They talked about improving the functioning of universities and colleges of Assam and the modalities to transform those into centers of excellence.

 

Earlier, Sarma to infuse qualitative development along with empowering the power companies (APDCL, APGCL, AEGCL) economically held a video conference led discussions with the Gujarat energy minister Saurabh Bhai Patel along with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam limited officials on Tuesday.

 

The Gujarat Urja Vikas company gave a PowerPoint presentation encompassing all the best practices adopted by them for making Gujarat a power surplus State. The minister spoke about various initiatives which were taken by the then State CM Narendra Modi and how these made a turnaround for the qualitative development of Gujarat’s power sector.

 

Minister Patel requested Sarma to send a delegation from Assam to witness the innovative and progressive steps taken by the government for improving the energy sector. Responding to his call, Sarma announced a team led by Assam power minister Bimal Bora would leave for Gujarat soon to study various power sector-related success stories in the Western State.
