All the newly elected BJP MLAs in West Bengal will be provided security cover by the central paramilitary forces.
The decision was taken Monday.
The BJP won 77 seats in the just concluded assembly polls in West Bengal.
Sixty one new MLAs will be provided X category security and armed commandos from CISF will cover them. Four will get Y category. The remaining are already protected by the central forces.
A four member team of the Union Home Ministry had visited the state to take stock of the post poll violence. The team submitted its report in which it assessed high level threats to the newly elected BJP MLAs.
In the post poll violence in the state, more than 20 BJP members and RSS volunteers have lost their lives.
Many houses and party offices were vandalised and torched by the TMC cadre.
Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal assembly is protected under Z-category cover.
The TMC leaders, including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, tried to dismiss the reports of post poll violence as fake news spread by the BJP.
Calcutta High Court constituted a five-judge bench to hear the matter of post poll violence.
