The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Friday urged the Union Government to take action to establish peace in West Bengal.
In a statement, RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabole said, “We also urge upon the Union Govt to take necessary and all possible steps to establish peace in WB…”
He also demanded the Mamata Banerjee government establish the rule of law without any delay.
The statement read, “We demand the newly elected government of West Bengal, as its top priority, to effectively establish rule of law by immediately containing violence, to initiate legal action against culprits by arresting them without further delay and also to instil a feeling of safety and confidence in the minds of affected people…”
The Sarkaryavah also asked the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take necessary steps for the rehabilitation of the people affected by the violence.
More than 20 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party had lost their lives in the post poll violence perpetrated by the TMC. The BJP National President JP Nadda Wednesday said more than 80000 people had to flee their homes to save their lives.
Nadda visited the state for two days to take stock of the situation.
The RSS expressed its shock over the passive role of the administration in the state.
The statement read, “Neither the rioters are seemed to be afraid of anything nor is there any initiative by the state police and administration to control the violence.”
Terming the violence antithesis to the Idea of India, the RSS said, “…post-poll-result violence is contrary to the Bharatiya tradition of Co-existence and respect to the opinion of all, as also it is totally opposed to the very spirit of democracy and one people enshrined in our Constitution.”
