The Bharatiya Janata Party has never been shy about its mission of ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’. To a great extent, they have been successful as Congress is shrinking very fast.

Now, others have also started contributing generously towards making Bharat ‘Congress Mukt’.

In West Bengal, Bharat’s oldest political party drew a blank. The lady luck did not smile on it in other states too.
The party badly lost Assam, Kerala and Puducherry.

In alliance with DMK, it won 18 seats in Tamil Nadu. But the DMK, which won 132 seats on its own, will not be dependent on it as 118 seats are required to form the government in Tamil Nadu.

In Kerala, where it was expecting to come to power, it won just 21 seats in an assembly of 140 seats.

In Puducherry, it could manage only 2 seats. It was in power in the outgoing assembly.

In Assam too, the story is no different. It could win only 29 seats. Its alliance partner, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal’s AIUDF, won 16 seats.

The Left Democratic Front in Kerala created history by retaining power. The coalition won 99 seats in the 140-member assembly.
