A court in Jaipur Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to 12 terrorists of banned Islamic organisation SIMI.
One alleged terrorist was acquitted for lack of evidence.
In 2014, these 13 engineering students were arrested from Rajasthan under UAPA and Explosives Act.
All 13 were arrested by the ATS and SOG for their involvement in terror activities.
Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) is a banned Islamic terrorist organisation. It was banned after its members were found involved in many terror activities in the country.
In February 2019, the Union government extended the ban on SIMI for five more years, stating its activities were dangerous for the country.
