The Assam Police arrested three people for an alleged plot to assassinate senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Of the three arrested, one is Pradeep Gogoi, the vice-president of the pro-talk faction of ULFA.

Based on the intelligence input, the police had intercepted the telephone conversation of the accused.
Sarma is a very prominent minister in the Assam government and one of the chief architects of the BJP in the North-East.
The voting for 126 seats of the Assam assembly is spread over three phases, starting March 27. The counting of votes will start on May 2.
The police sources said the accused wanted to disrupt the election process in Assam.
The National Democratic Alliance had won 86 seats in the last assembly polls in 2016, with the BJP winning 60 seats.
Sarbananda Sonowal of the BJP became the chief minister.
